About Heather & Her Garden

Hi. I’m Heather. Welcome to my garden and micro flower farm.  My love for flowers began as a little girl when I would receive bouquets after my annual dance recital, and my room would be filled with their beauty and scent. I still remember how special they made me feel- and that feeling still carries on to this day.

My Mom taught me early on how to put plants in the ground, how to weed, and the gift of a Saturday afternoon spent in the garden. I continued to build and maintain gardens in my yards in Buffalo, NY and Tampa, Florida over the span of 20 years. My Grandparents were avid gardeners, even operating a strawberry farm for many years in Lincoln, Michigan. I tend to think the love of plants and gardens was always in my soul.

In 2021, as the world continued to fall apart, so did I. Something nudged me to get gardening once again, with purpose. What began as 2 small squares where my husband had planted sunflowers in our front yard, was expanded and quickly turned into my meditation practice, joy source, grief processor, and physical and mental strength builder.

My garden is located in my urban yard in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Tampa, Florida. Land that belongs to the Native tribes of the Seminole and Tocobaga people. May I be a steward and vessel on this borrowed land. I have room for more- with a strong eye on my front yard ;) !

On less than an acre, I’m able to produce armloads of annual cut flowers that are grown with organic materials. Most are grown from seed, through much trial and error each year- mostly in the Spring and Fall. I continue to learn about what works in our Florida climate- which can be wild and wonderful all at the same time.

I’m a proud graduate of the Floret Flower Farming workshop and continue to learn from a variety of teachers and communities.

I’ve shared hundreds of small, can-sized bouquets with my community under what I call “Free Joy”- which continues the ripple effect of joy and beauty shared like flowers have done my entire life.

I’m excited to begin to offer my flowers- both fresh and everlasting- for purchase this Fall 2025. Stay tuned for all the details.

When I’m not in the garden I’m hanging out with my husband and 2 rescue pups, a proud Mom of a UCF student, a driven leader of customer experience for an International company, and a lover of the beach, Disney World, and words. I’m also a proud neurodivergent individual who believes in the power of gardening to support my brain and sensory needs.

As a lover of words, I share what the flowers have meant to me and my life- along with the things I’m learning along the way. You’ll find more words than video most days here. And maybe, just maybe, you’ll learn a little something about the magic that’s created when seeds, sun, dirt, and water create flowers. Sometimes that magic is created within you.

Thank you for being here. 🌻🌸🌈
